Privacy Policy

Pause ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what we don't do with it.

The short version

We don't store your draft messages. We don't sell your data. We don't share your information with advertisers. The whole point of Pause is that you feel safe being honest — that only works if your privacy is real.

What we collect

When you use Pause, we collect the minimum information needed to operate the app:

Draft message content — sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for analysis, then immediately discarded. We do not store the text of your draft messages on our servers.
Recipient type and mood context — used only to generate your analysis. Not stored beyond the active session.
Analysis results — stored locally on your device via AsyncStorage. This is your history and it never leaves your phone unless you export it.
Basic account information — if you create an account, we store your email address to manage your subscription.
Subscription and purchase data — processed through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat. We receive confirmation that a purchase occurred, but we do not handle your payment information directly.
Crash reports and app diagnostics — anonymous technical data used to fix bugs. No message content is included.

What we don't collect

The actual content of messages you decide to send
Access to your real Messages, iMessage, email, or any other messaging app
Your contacts or address book
Your location
Any biometric data

How we use your information

To provide the core app functionality (draft analysis and suggestions)
To manage your Pro subscription
To improve the app based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns
To contact you about your account if needed

Third-party services

Pause uses the following third-party services:

Anthropic — AI analysis provider. Your draft text is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this data: anthropic.com/privacy
RevenueCat — subscription management. Handles purchase verification and entitlement tracking. Their privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
Apple App Store — app distribution and payment processing.

We do not use advertising networks, sell data to data brokers, or share your information with any other third parties.

Data storage and security

Your analysis history is stored locally on your device. It is not uploaded to our servers. If you delete the app, your history is deleted with it. We use industry-standard security practices for any data we do store (such as account credentials).

Children's privacy

Pause is not intended for users under the age of 12. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 12. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can:

Delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting us
Export your local analysis history from within the app
Opt out of crash reporting in the app settings
Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we'll notify you in the app and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Pause after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
